NBC offers an unexpected face for the Olympic Games. The American channel, holder of the broadcast rights for Paris 2024 in the United States, formalized, on Sunday December 31, the arrival of rapper Snoop Dogg among its team to cover the events in the French capital next summer. “The superstar will be on hand in Paris to provide regular reporting for the Olympic Primetime Show starting July 26, 2024.”the channel said in its press release. “He will explore the city’s emblematic places, go to competitions, and visit athletes, their families and friends”.

For his part, the artist, aged 52, shared on his X account (formerly Twitter) a promotional video, “Snoop Year’s Eve”, where he appears alongside five American athletes, the skateboarder Jagger Eaton, the gymnast Suni Lee, basketball player A’ja Wilson, and beach volleyball duo Kelly Chang and Sarah Hughes.

“I grew up watching the Olympic Games and I am delighted to see the athletes giving their all in Paris”he also said in the NBC press release. “We’re going to have some amazing competitions and I’ll be bringing that Snoop style into the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Games ever, so stay tuned and don’t give up.”

Snoop Dogg will not be his first attempt since he has already found himself behind the microphone. In 2021, he commented, with actor Kevin Hart, on the dressage equestrian events during the Tokyo Olympics. A sequence which had accumulated more than two million views on YouTube.
