Snapchat integrates a direct purchasing tool on Amazon

(San Francisco) Snapchat users will soon be able to buy products on Amazon by remaining in the social network application, the American online commerce giant said on Tuesday, confirming press information.

Snap shares gained more than 7% on Wall Street, reaching $12.15.

In-app sales will be possible for certain products promoted on Snapchat and sold on Amazon.

“In the United States, customers will see real-time pricing, benefits [de l’abonnement] Prime, delivery estimates and product details on a selection of products promoted on Snapchat,” an Amazon spokesperson told AFP.

The two American companies announced a year ago a partnership to facilitate purchases from Amazon with a virtual reality tool.

Snapchat claimed 750 million monthly users in April, but unlike Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp), the company has never managed to earn enough advertising revenue to generate an annual profit and the Californian group is looking new sources of income.

Many details of the deal between Amazon and Snap are not known, including whether Snap will receive any commission on sales to Amazon.
