Smoke from the Quebec fires envelops Yankee Stadium

It is not only in southern Quebec that we are feeling the effect of forest fires on air quality. The smog made its way to New York City, where Yankee Stadium was shrouded in residual smoke.

Tuesday evening, the images captured above the home of the Yankees were striking during the confrontation against the White Sox of Chicago. A thick veil of smoke floated in the sky and gave an orange color to the last rays of the sun.

According to the website ClutchPoints, the stadium was hardly visible in the surroundings and a veil of smoke covered it.

“It’s like someone burning old furniture,” a supporter quoted by the site noted.

Smoke is expected to continue billowing over New York State in the coming days. The Yankees have indicated that they will continue to monitor the situation closely and will make adjustments to their schedule if necessary.

The smoke continued to make its way south as it is now in the vicinity of Philadelphia. Reporter Jonathan Tannenwald, who is assigned to cover the Philadelphia Union, shared a photo taken at the team’s stadium in Chester on Wednesday morning. The smoke is clearly visible.
