Who has never taken, when leaving a hotel room, the mini-shampoos and other soaps that are available in the bathrooms? Brussels wants to ban them because they are very polluting. What will they be replaced by?

For many, it is a reflex when leaving the hotel room: taking small polluting plastic bottles which could well be banned in favor of eco-pumps, soap dispensers to consume on site. The European Union is considering banning hygiene products of less than 100 mL.

The European Parliament will vote on a law

The milestone already reached for an establishment manager: “We operate with eco-pumps for reasons of ecology and economy. Soaps produce a lot of waste”explains Fabienne Ardouin, director of the France Albion hotel, ensuring that the initiative was “easily understood by customers”. Dispensers have been installed near each sink and there are no more plastic cups. The bill will be voted on Thursday, November 23 in the European Parliament before passing into the hands of the other institutions. If passed, the law could come into force on January 1, 2027.
