In Los Angeles (United States), a homeless support program gives homeless people a chance, by rehousing them in small houses of 6 square meters. The aim is to give homeless people a second chance, as well as stability.

Along the highway in Los Angeles, hundreds of homeless people live in colorful little houses, measuring 6 square meters. Enough to fit a bed and a few things, under a roof. The accommodation is prefabricated for homeless people, like Zuri Maria Terry, who has just spent her first night there. “I’m still realizing. I have privacy, I have a bathroom again”, testifies the woman. Apart from their accommodation, residents also have facilities to be comfortable.

The inhabitants of these prefabricated houses stay there for a few months before being sent elsewhere. They are, however, medically and socially monitored. Although this is a great initiative, some residents of the City of Angels are opposed to this practice. “The value of our homes will drop and what about the security of our parking lots?”, testifies Dorian Serban, resident of the district of Highland Park, in Los Angeles.
