Slimane makes new revelations about his complicated love life

On May 11, 2024, Slimane will represent France at the Eurovision 2024 contest, in Malmö (Sweden). As is tradition, candidates from each country must perform on several stages in Europe in order to introduce their songs to European audiences. After causing a sensation in Barcelona then London, it was in Amsterdam that Slimane put on a show again this Friday April 12, 2024.

Just before he goes on stage in front of 6,000 people to perform his song “My love”the singer confided in the newspaper 20 minutes. The opportunity for him to reveal how he prepares for the competition.

“I’m preparing psychologically, of course. I’m trying to project myself, with good energy, that’s important. I’m on tour, I’ve done TV performances in Croatia, Italy, Belgium… I would say that the preparation started when my candidacy was announced. I’m not doing anything special at the moment because the final is in a month.” he explained.
Slimane makes revelations behind the scenes of Eurovision 2024

The one who won the show “The Voice” in 2016 then reveals thatthere is absolute good understanding between all the candidates. Two of them, namely the Albanian Besa and the Polish Luna, have also covered his song. “Frankly, I was surprised. The first was Luna. We saw each other in Barcelona and she said to me: ‘I have something for you to listen to…’. All the artists in competition this year have to do a cover for the Eurovision YouTube channel Luna said to me: “Me, that’s it…”. I started listening and it was really my love. Besides, when I talk about kindness, this is an example: she didn’t say to herself “I’m going to cover the song of one of my competitors”. nice recovery, so I was very happy.”

Slimane reveals he is heartbroken
Our colleagues from 20 Minutes then remind Slimane that he had confided in the past that the song “Mon Amour” was the story of a broken heart, directly inspired by what he experienced. They then ask him if the person who inspired this text recognized himself. To which he responds: “I think we always recognize ourselves when someone sends us a love letter. But it’s still a song of a broken heart. I’m still heartbroken. I would sing it with a broken heart and I believe that this is also what makes the interpretation work”.

Just before, Vitaa’s sidekick spoke about the audacity of choosing a love song for the Eurovision song contest : “There was a moment when I said to myself: ‘But actually you are crazy to go to Eurovision with this song!’. When you listen to all the songs, there is almost a Eurovision “taste” which comes off [auquel Mon amour ne correspondrait pas]. But, little by little, doing the pre-parties, meeting people, I started to think that it was an advantage because she stands out from the crowd. Afterwards, like everything that stands out, you either love it or you hate it. Without boasting, whether for good or evil, I will not go unnoticed.”

And Slimane concludes about the malicious comments made against him: “From the beginning, I’ve been thinking about being proud of myself. I want to be proud of myself when I come off the Eurovision stage and take off my ears [oreillettes]. I want to be happy with my performance and what I did. Here, what we are all working on together is really something that I am very proud of.”.
