Slightly older and more masculine: the profile of the newly elected National Assembly

What is the new face of the Hemicycle? The new National Assembly, elected on Sunday, July 7, is on average older and more masculine than the previous one, according to the institution’s website. The average age has gone from 48 years and ten months in 2022 to 49 years and 7 months in 2024, the median age is 51 years and one month.

The youngest MP is 22 years old, Flavier Termet, elected National Rally in the first constituency of the Ardennes. The oldest is 81 years old and is also an RN, José Gonzalez, elected in the 10th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône.

Most of the deputies (301, or 52%), are between 40 and 59 years old, a proportion stable compared to the 16th legislature. 25 deputies are under 30, 127 are between 30 and 40, 100 are between 60 and 70, and 24 are over 70.

The new National Assembly is composed of 208 women (36%) and 369 men (64%). In 2022, at the beginning of the 16th legislature, the Assembly was composed of 215 women (37.3%) and 362 men (62.7%).
