The family of a woman who had her throat slit in her vehicle in January 2022 in Longueuil has settled accounts with the killer who was so intoxicated that he would have kept only vague memories of the attack.
“I sincerely hope that you will one day remember, down to the smallest detail, what you did to Manon. Hoping that these images haunt you and that they become your prison beyond the sentence, ”launched the sister of the victim, addressing the person who killed his sister in the middle of the courtroom.
First accused of unpremeditated murder, Martin Bérubé pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of manslaughter.
The 46-year-old man stabbed Manon Boisvert to death on January 2, 2022, during a drug deal gone wrong.
The 54-year-old victim was then selling cocaine. Bérubé and his spouse, Josée Hénault, were excessive consumers, to the point where they sometimes had to lavish cardiac massages and hit themselves in the face to “resuscitate” themselves.

“Smashed”
Martin Bérubé and his spouse had taken place in the victim’s vehicle. During the exchange, the tone rose. The accused, “completely stoned”, vaguely remembers having “intensely flipped over” and was very afraid for his safety. He then stabbed the victim several times.
The couple then left. The bloodied body of Manon Boisvert was not found until three days later, by a passerby.
In the meantime, Hénault and Bérubé had done Google searches regarding “woman found dead” or “Longueuil murder”.

“How can you still look at yourself in the mirror knowing what you’ve done? You didn’t help her, you didn’t defend her, you left her there in her car soaking in her blood. You did not even have the humanity to call the emergency services anonymously in order to give him a chance to get out of it, a chance to live, ”added Annie Boisvert, this time turning in the direction of Josée Hénault, seated in the courtroom.
Find a serenity
The latter, also accused of unpremeditated murder, was acquitted yesterday.
“We took into account the evidence in the file, the circumstances. [M. Bérubé] confessed, he said what happened in the car. And what he said stuck with the evidence collected, ”explained the Crown prosecutor in the file, Mr.e Miguel Boisvert.
Martin Bérubé was sentenced to 10 years in prison, which is very little, according to the family of the victim.
“She was the mother of three children. But also a grandmother, who will never have been able to see her grandchildren because of you. I hope telling you that will make you think about what you did,” said Cedrick, the victim’s 18-year-old son, adding that his disabled mother could not working and struggling to provide for his family.
“It takes a lot of courage to do what you did. I hope that you will find serenity, that the legal process will help you to continue your mourning”, then said judge Julie-Maude Greffe, to the attention of the relatives of Manon Boisvert.
