“We were lucky.” A team of journalists from the British information channel Sky News were targeted on Monday (February 28th) in the north-west of Kiev (Ukraine), as fighting raged between the Russian army and Ukrainian forces. Journalist Stuart Ramsay published a striking video of the facts on the media site on Saturday March 5. This last was shot in the lower back. A cameraman was hit by two bullets but his bulletproof vest protected him.
The video shows the team of reporters, who were trying to return to the Ukrainian capital, being caught in a real ambush, without warnings. “Bullets cascaded through the entire car, disintegrating the windshield glass, plastic seats, steering wheel and dashboard”says Stuart Ramsay in his article.

The team then tried to call for the shooting to stop, shouting several times “Journalists!“, without success. Two members of the team were hit by bullets, one of whom was injured. The five team members, including the injured man, managed to flee to a nearby factory where men opened a door for them and waved them inside. They were then evacuated by the Ukrainian police.
On Twitter, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised “courage” journalists who “risk their lives to ensure the truth is told”. “The free press will not be intimidated by barbaric and indiscriminate acts of violence”he added.
