SkipTheDishes CEO has announced that hundreds of Canadian employees are being laid off by the meal delivery service and its parent company.
Paul Burns said 100 Canadian-based workers would leave SkipTheDishes. And about 700 employees working for its owner Just Eat Takeaway.com will also lose their jobs, also in Canada.
Mr Burns announced the news in a LinkedIn post where he said the job cuts were the result of a comprehensive review and restructuring.
He argued that the decision to reduce staff was not easy, but was necessary to ensure the company had the right resources and structure to drive growth.
SkipTheDishes was founded in Winnipeg in 2012 and was acquired in December 2016 by Just Eat, which merged with Takeaway.com in 2020.
