Ski tour | Katherine Stewart-Jones takes 18th place

Antoine Cyr and Katherine Stewart-Jones will have turned many heads throughout the Tour de ski which concluded on Sunday in Val di Fiemme, Italy, with a 10 kilometer free mass start. Stewart-Jones had the best Canadian result of the day with an 18e place (+1 minute 51.8 seconds).


The Quebecer remained constant throughout the race, remaining around the 20e rung before the last kilometer. The 27-year-old cross-country skier was finally able to climb to the 18e place before the finish line, at the top of Mount Cermis, in the Italian Alps.

Frenchwoman Delphine Claudel won on Sunday to sign the first victory of her career on the World Cup circuit. She was accompanied on the podium by Norwegian Heidi Weng (+20.2 seconds) and American Sophia Laukli (+35.7 seconds).

With this result, the Chelsea skier confirms her 18e place in the general classification of the Tour de ski. Sat 10e Saturday’s place in the classic 15 kilometer mass start was his best result of the competition. Stewart-Jones also pierced the top 25 three times in seven races.

It was Sweden’s Frida Karlsson who took top honors in the Tour de ski, thanks in particular to her two gold medals in Oberstdorf, Germany.

After two excellent performances on Friday and Saturday, Antoine Cyr took the 36e echelon in the 10 kilometer freestyle for men, finishing 2 min 30.8 s behind the winner of the day.

Cyr was closely followed by his compatriot Olivier Léveillé, 40e (+2 minutes 33.8 seconds).

For the first time since the start of the Tour de ski, another athlete than the Norwegian Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo climbed to the top step of the podium. Simen Hegstad Krueger, Klaebo’s compatriot was victorious ahead of Norwegian Hans Christer Holund (+4.8 seconds) and Frenchman Jules Lapierre (+25 seconds).

Klaebo, sixth on the day, won the Tour de Ski. He was followed in the general classification by his compatriots Krueger and Holund. Antoine Cyr finished in 16e level while Olivier Léveillé found himself 32e.
