(Toronto) Former Montreal Alouettes receiver SJ Green will be inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
Green will be accompanied by former Alouettes Chad Owens, Weston Dressler, Marvin Coleman and Vince Goldsmith. Head coach Ray Jauch and the emblematic figure of amateur football Ed Laverty, posthumously, were elected as builders.
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Green began his career in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Alouettes in 2007. After a stint with the New York Jets in 2010, he returned to Montreal to play seven more seasons.
Green played 116 games with the Alouettes, lifting the Gray Cup twice, in 2009 and 2010. He was elected to the CFL all-star team in 2013 and was part of the team of stars of the Eastern section from 2011 to 2015.
Green played in 170 games, spanning 13 seasons, in the CFL. He also wore the colors of the Toronto Argonauts.
His 10,222 receiving yards make him one of 18 players in CFL history to have passed the 10,000 career receiving yards mark. His 716 receptions place him at 12e rank in league history. Green also threw for 60 touchdowns.
Green also made his mark in Toronto, winning the Gray Cup with the Argonauts in 2017. He was part of the CFL All-Star team in 2017 as well as the Eastern All-Star team from 2017 to 2019.
Owens spent the 2009 season with the Alouettes upon his arrival in the CFL, after a few seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In nine CFL campaigns, from 2009 to 2017, and 105 games, with the Alouettes, Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Saskatchewan Roughriders, Owens was elected to the All-Star team. one of the two sections five times and part of the CFL all-star team on four occasions.
Owens ranks eighth in CFL history in punt return yards (10,309), as well as 10the ranks in league history for overall yards (16,698). He won the Gray Cup in 2012 with the Argonauts.
