Sixteen departments in eastern France placed on orange alert for risk of thunderstorms from Monday afternoon

Call for caution in the east of France. Météo-France places sixteen departments on orange alert for risks of thunderstorms from 3 p.m. on Monday, July 15, the meteorological agency announced on XThe departments concerned are Aube, Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Jura, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Nièvre, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Saône-et-Loire, Vosges, Yonne and the Territoire de Belfort.

“After a calm first part of the day allowing the heat to settle in, a clear stormy deterioration will occur in the afternoon and evening” from Monday, writes Météo-France in its weather report. “Strong thunderstorms accompanied by hail, intense precipitation, significant electrical activity, wind gusts of around 100 km/h will sweep the area on orange alert from west to east.” A lull is expected in the middle of the night from Monday to Tuesday.
