France had sixteen cases on Saturday “confirmed” infection with monkeypox virus, according to health authorities, Sunday, May 29. Among them, twelve were reported in Ile-de-France, one in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, two in Occitanie and one in Normandy, according to figures from Public Health France.
The previous assessment reported seven cases “proven”, according to the Minister of Health, Brigitte Bourguignon, Wednesday. Public Health France announces an update of the balance sheet for Monday. Brigitte Bourguignon had declared that the authorities did not expect a “flame” of the disease, and that the country had sufficient stocks of vaccines for contact cases.
The Directorate General of Health announced to AFP on Friday that the first two people, considered to have had risky contact with a patient, had been vaccinated in Paris, at the Bichat hospital. Faced with cases of monkeypox, the High Authority for Health recommended, in an opinion issued on Tuesday, the vaccination of adults, including health professionals, who have had risky contact with a patient.
