Sixteen other people have succumbed to COVID-19, according to Tuesday’s report, which shows a total of 17,059 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Of the 16 new deaths linked to the disease, two have occurred in the past 24 hours. Twelve of these deaths took place two to seven days ago, and two others more than seven days ago.
Hospitalizations have also gradually decreased in recent days. As of Tuesday, 1,918 hospitalized patients had COVID-19, including 620 who were being treated specifically for the disease. This represents a decrease of seven compared to the previous day.
In intensive care, there is a decrease of four patients, for a total of 49, among whom 29 are there because of COVID-19.
Several dozen health care workers were able to return to work in the last few days, but there were still nearly 3,500 still withdrawn for reasons related to the disease.
On the case side, health authorities reported 887 new infections, but this number is underestimated given that access to testing centers is restricted to certain priority groups.
The figures from the rapid tests provide a slightly more complete result. On Monday, Quebecers declared 150 tests, including 129 that turned out to be positive. In total, there are 305,231 rapid tests, including 256,554 positives.
According to the dashboard of the Ministry of Health, the positivity rate is 9.2%.
Regarding vaccination against COVID-19, 13,380 doses were administered on Monday, for a total of 21,874,021 injected into Quebecers.
