In May 2021, Chahinez Daoud was burned alive by her ex-husband in the middle of the street in Mérignac (Gironde). Following this tragedy, his parents then denounced failures from justice. Six police officers are summoned before a disciplinary council to answer.

She was 31 years old and has become a symbol of violence against women. Burned alive by her ex-husband in the middle of the street, Chahinez Daoud also symbolizes the failings of justice. The investigation points to a series of dysfunctions. Despite several complaints, her ex-husband was never worried. The entire hierarchical and judicial chain is involved and must therefore explain the case. Six police officers were summoned before a Disciplinary Council for lack of judgment, negligence and damage to the credit of the police.

Police or judicial dysfunction? The investigation will determine it. In addition, the family lawyer confides that this procedure was not launched in a spirit of revenge, but rather “to shed light on the various shortcomings, their causes and their origins in order to allow such shortcomings not to take place in the future”. The final decision must be taken by the Minister of the Interior.
