Six people who were reported missing on Saturday evening are believed to have died in an overnight crash in Barrie, Ont.
According to Barrie police Sunday morning, a single-vehicle crash occurred around 2 a.m. at the corner of McKay Street and County Road.
The six occupants of the vehicle, who had been missing on Saturday evening, perished in the collision, authorities said.
“A shocking and horrific tragedy has occurred which has claimed the lives of six young people who had their lives ahead of them. As a parent myself, this is my worst nightmare. Six families in our city are devastated this morning and need our full compassion and support,” said Barrie Mayor Jess Lehman.
Barrie police did not immediately release details of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
