Six men were arrested on August 25 and 26 because the Paris judicial police suspected them of being about to rob an unmarked car transporting precious materials whose goods were estimated at nearly two million euros, learned franceinfo from concordant sources, confirming information from the Actu17.fr site.
According to information from franceinfo, the suspects, some of whom are already known to the police for their links with organized crime, had been scouting since the spring on the routes of vehicles from a company specializing in precious materials.
On August 25, the day scheduled for the robbery, five men were arrested by the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of the judicial police. Some were in cars fitted with fake license plates and with helmets to conceal their faces, in the Marais district of central Paris.
A sixth suspect was arrested at his home the next day, August 26, by the Val-de-Marne judicial police who are in charge of the investigation. Officers seized an assault rifle, shotgun, handguns, body armor and ammunition. The six suspects were indicted for “criminal association” and “attempted robbery in an organized gang”. Among the members of this team was a 48-year-old man, sentenced to 17 years of criminal imprisonment in 2014 for the assassination of a man linked to organized crime, in the early 2000s.
