“It’s unprecedented, illegal, and anti-American”: six days before the midterm elections, US President Joe Biden warned candidates on Wednesday ready to refuse the results of the vote, assuring that this “opens the way to chaos.
“We can no longer take democracy for granted,” warned the Democratic leader, in a serious tone.
President Biden was speaking a stone’s throw from the Capitol, the seat of the American Congress that supporters of Donald Trump, convinced of his victory in the 2020 election, had attacked in an unnamed chaos, on January 6, 2021.
“I wish I could say the assault on our democracy ended that day. But I can’t,” Joe Biden said, listing the number of candidates willing to withhold voting results in the Nov. 8 election, the first ballot held nationwide since that attack.
“There are candidates who are running at all levels of the American administration […] who refuse to commit to accepting the results of the elections in which they are candidates,” warned the tenant of the White House.

During this election, the Americans are called upon to renew all the seats in the American House of Representatives and one third of the Senate. A whole series of governorships and local elected officials are also at stake.

The Republican continues to denounce the result of the 2020 presidential election, assuring that the election was stolen from Donald Trump, despite countless evidence to the contrary. This 50-year-old also threatens not to recognize the result of her own ballot. “I will win the election, this is the result that I will accept,” the candidate told CNN.
Former President Donald Trump, who never admitted defeat in the 2020 presidential election, also appears to be preparing to challenge the outcome of the midtermsif they were to be unfavorable to the Republicans.
“This paves the way for chaos in America”, hammered Joe Biden, also calling on the country to oppose “political violence and voter intimidation”.
The president took as an example the case of Paul Pelosi, the husband of Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, who was attacked with a hammer at his home on Friday morning. The assailant indicated that he was actually looking for the American leader.
Some electoral officials and elected officials also said they had noticed an increase in threats and intimidation.
The people propagating these theories are “determined, and manage to be heard”, warned Joe Biden, who tries somehow to focus the debate around the protection of democracy, when the Republicans attack him on his record economic.
“Cruel” inflation
Accusing the Democratic president of a “cruel” management of inflation, the Republicans are showing more and more confidence in their chances of depriving him of his majorities in Congress.
However, according to a Quinnipiac University poll published on Wednesday, 36% of Americans believe that inflation is the most “urgent” issue facing the country.
Abortion rights, around which the Democrats have tried to mobilize their base, comes in second place, at only 10%. The elections are at 6%.
According to the most recent opinion polls, the Republican opposition has a very good chance of taking over the Chamber. The fate of the Senate remains more uncertain.
Joe Biden is trying to turn the tide. Americans are “still suffering” from inflation, he acknowledged Wednesday in an address at the White House devoted to jobs in industry, after attending demonstrations of masonry and welding.
Faced with an unfavorable wind, the Democratic Party called on its heavyweights to the rescue, such as former President Barack Obama and his undeniable oratory skills.
“If you’re anxious or frustrated right now, don’t complain. Don’t turn a deaf ear. Don’t let the other side convince you that your vote doesn’t count, ”argued Barack Obama, traveling Wednesday to the hotly contested state of Arizona, the State, of Kari Lake.
