Six airports evacuated in France after threats of attack

Six regional airports in France were subject to evacuations on Wednesday morning after “threats of attacks” received by email and some of them resumed their activity after verification, we learned from reliable sources.

The evacuated airports are located in Lille, Lyon (Bron), Nantes, Nice, Toulouse and Beauvais, a police source told AFP. No Paris airport is affected.

According to Nice airport communication, however, there “was just an alert to the suspicious package, something frequent, which required the establishment of a security perimeter. But everything is back to normal.”

For his part, a spokesperson for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) confirmed “bomb threats” and “evacuations from terminals” on Wednesday morning on four platforms – Lille, Lyon, Toulouse and Beauvais ( north of Paris) — without being able to give further details immediately.

According to the DGAC’s online dashboard, three airports were experiencing significant delays shortly after midday: Toulouse-Blagnac, Lille-Lesquin and Beauvais-Tillé.

At Bron airport – a business airport – “there has been a lifting of doubts, traffic has resumed”, specified the airport management.

In Lille, “the terminal was evacuated around 10:30 a.m.,” according to a spokesperson. “It’s not a busy day,” she added.

Flights from Marrakech, Geneva and Constantine, which were due to land between 11:05 a.m. and 11:40 a.m., were diverted, it is stated on the Lille airport website. “State security services are on site”, specifies the airport on X (formerly Twitter).

Bomb threats in France have been increasing since the assassination of a professor on Friday in the north of the country by a young radicalized Islamist. The Louvre Museum and the Palace of Versailles were thus evacuated, on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
