Everyone knew her as Régine. The singer gave us quits this morning, Sunday May 1, at the age of 92. She had first distinguished herself by opening nightclubs before finding success in song.
All it took was a few choruses for Régine to leave her mark on French song. It started with “Les petits papiers” got out in 1965, the song is signed Serge Gainsbourg. Régine’s strong character comes from her childhood. Born Regina Zylberberg in 1929, of parents polish jewsshe grew up in the turmoil of the Second World War. “I am one of the people who trembled during the war, maybe that’s why I have trouble shaking now”she said.
In addition to her singing career, Régine is one of the queens of the night. She has managed up to twenty clubs and discos all over the world. At home, people discover the twist in the 60s as well as disco at the turn of the 80s. She survived all fashions. “She is marvellous“, expressed a fan in 2000.
