She says she lives a “nightmare” facing illness. Singer Françoise Hardy, aged 79, declares she wants to die “as soon, as quickly and as painlessly as possible”Thursday December 14, in an interview published by Paris Match. Followed for several years for pharyngeal cancer, she wishes “leave soon and quickly, without too big challenges, such as the impossibility of breathe”.

The interpreter of How to say goodbye to you, Leave anyway And All the boys and girlswho will be 80 years old on January 17, has already declared herself several times in favor of euthanasia in recent years. “Like a large majority of French people (…) we would like the president to make it a possibility”she confirms to BFMTV. “Going abroad in my state would be unthinkable”, she adds, about a possible trip for assistance in dying in Switzerland or Belgium. A bill, a promise from Emmanuel Macron, must be “presented in February”after a ten-year plan on palliative care, according to the government.

“Since my last and recent radiotherapy, I have been doing poorly, because my right eye sees everything very blurry and is painful. My nostril on the same side is blocked all the time”she explains to Paris Match. “The mouth and back of the throat are even drier”, she continues. No longer able to read or watch television, the former partner of Jacques Dutronc, with whom she has a son, the singer Thomas Dutronc, says she is deprived of “the best way to disconnect”. Françoise Hardy also talks about her mind “destroy” by the illness and explains that his “55 radiotherapies” made him lose “the memory of too many things”.
