Singer Dave, hospitalized after a heavy fall at his home, cancels his concerts

Singer Dave, 77, has been hospitalized since Tuesday January 25 in the Paris region, due to“a heavy fall at his home”, which forces him to “cancel all his commitments for the next few weeks”, said his press secretary François Troller on Thursday. The interpreter, known in particular for the tubes On the Swann side Where Vanina, had several dates planned in February and March in the north of France.

In November 2019, for his 50-year career, Dave, born in the Netherlands but adopted by France in the 1970s, released a new studio album, then released on the Bobino stage in Paris, before a tour.

This return to the spotlight, the artist owed it to his closest and illustrious neighbor in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue: Renaud had decided to produce this new disc remember to love, bringing together twelve titles, several of which address societal issues.

The pangs of love also irrigated several pieces echoing the couple he has formed for nearly 50 years with Patrick Loiseau, his regular lyricist since his first great success, the French adaptation of Sugar Baby Love of the Rubettes in 1974, which became Too handsome, before the million copies sold of Vanina.

“I am a singer of variety and proud of it”, confided Dave to AFP in 2019, attributing his popularity to his way of approaching life, with fun, wielding small spikes in show biz and self-mockery.

“I have a good tongue and I find it very easy to say swear words in French, not those of my native language! And if I’m caustic, it’s with a good heart!”, assured the one who hosted many TV shows.

And to conclude in his inimitable style: “My vocal cords allow me to earn a living. It’s better than being an old whore! (laughs)”.
