Singer Corneliu, known since his time at Star Academy in 2004, is accused of drugging two people on two different occasions, in 2013 and 2016.
Legal proceedings concerning Corneliu Monteanu began in Montreal on Wednesday, confirmed Mr.e Audrey Roy-Cloutier, Spokesperson for the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions.
Corneliu is accused, three years apart in 2013 and then in 2016, of having administered or caused his victims to consume “a poison, a destructive substance [ou] a noxious substance with the intent to afflict or torment that person,” the indictment reads.
The 39-year-old man was the subject of an arrest warrant on November 10, 2022 in Montreal, and was arrested a few days later, on November 14.
The case has been postponed to February 14 for further proceedings.
In July 2019, legal proceedings were dropped against the singer in a case of theft from a Canadian Tire in Laval and conspiracy, according to the Montreal Journal.
Corneliu made himself known to the Quebec public with his participation in the second season of Star Academyin 2004.
