As Christmas approaches, the trees and lights are soon back. The Champs-Elysées will be illuminated on November 21 and 400 trees will be covered with garlands at the end of an inauguration ceremony to be held on the avenue, pedestrianized for the occasion. And to start the festivities, it’s singer Clara Luciani which was chosen this Thursday by the Champs-Elysées committee. The 29-year-old singer, godmother of the event, will be responsible for launching the illuminations.
Ten million visitors expected
The Champs-Elysées will shine a crimson red every evening from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., until January 9, 2022, with the exception of December 24 and 31. Ten million visitors are expected on the Parisian avenue for the end of year celebrations. A hope of revival for businesses and tourism whose revenues have been disrupted by the demonstrations of “yellow vests” and by the Covid-19 health crisis over the past two years.
