since his arrival at the head of the team, the “magician” Didier Digard has put OGC Nice back on the right track

Since January, Didier Digard has had a string of successes: Nice has remained undefeated for five games in a row.

He brought success back to Nice footballers. Since the start of the season, the Aiglons’ results have been uneven. The team has long stagnated in the soft underbelly of the Ligue 1 championship. And then comes January 7 and elimination from the Coupe de France against Le Puy, a National club. A defeat that ultimately cost coach Lucien Favre his place. It was then that his deputy, Didier Digard, took over the reins of the Riviera club at the age of 36.

Since then, the people of Nice have simply been undefeated. Coach Didier Digard’s players recorded four wins and a draw with Nice. On their list, the Riviera club notably brought down the invisibility of Lens in their den of Bollaert, but also Olympique de Marseille at the Vélodrome.

From the youngsters of OGC Nice to the first team

In one month, Nice has therefore gone from 11th to 8th place in the league. And is only six points behind Stade Rennais, 5th, synonymous with a qualifying place to play in a European Cup.

However, he assures him, he has no magic recipe. But, yet, Didier Digard is not just anyone at OGC Nice. He played at the Gym from 2010 to 2015 and even wore the captain’s armband. Since 2019, Digard trained the young Aiglons, before taking charge of the club’s reserve team, then joining Lucien Favre’s staff.

And his style also clashes. The former defensive midfielder is, for example, very different from his Swiss predecessor, who addressed his players in a formal manner. Didier Digard is much simpler and more direct. Moreover, it is also reflected, to the delight of Internet users, in his style of dress: he wears sneakers, jogging and sweatshirts during the matches, all smiles with his long well-trimmed beard. It’s today, coach “tendency” in League 1.
