Silver medal for Eliot Grondin in snowboard cross

Quebecer Eliot Grondin easily won the silver medal in snowboard cross on Thursday at the Beijing Olympics.

The 20-year-old athlete from Sainte-Marie de Beauce dominated the race, before being narrowly overtaken by Austrian Alessandro Haemmerle at the top of the podium, completed by Italian Omar Visintin.

Grondin did not usurp his victory, he who displayed his potential from the start with a best time in his first run.

“Eliot Grondin wins Team Canada’s second medal in snowboard cross,” Team Canada tweeted.

The Quebec snowboarder has only soared above the competition since his first run, achieving a better performance.

The other two Canadians Liam Moffat and Kevin Hill lined up from the start of the competition could not go far, being eliminated in the round of 16.
