Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson won the silver medal in the beach volleyball tournament at the Paris Olympics on Friday, falling 26-24, 12-21, 15-10 to Brazil.
It is still Canada’s first medal in the women’s tournament.
Brazilians Ana Patricia and Duda were the favourites to win the tournament.
The Canadians came from behind to defeat Switzerland’s Tanja Hueberli and Nina Brunner in the semifinals on Thursday, saving a match ball in the second set after dropping the first.
Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson are ranked seventh in the world and went 1-2 in the group stage at the Olympics. They then had to win the repechage to reach the round of 16.
