significant delays for around forty TGVs departing from and arriving at Paris-Montparnasse

About forty TGVs are experiencing delays of up to 6 hours on departure and arrival at Paris-Montparnasse after a catenary break.

Forty TGVs departing from and arriving at Paris-Montparnasse station are still experiencing delays of up to 6 a.m., due to a fault in the power supply on the line, indicates the SNCF, Friday June 9 at 11:45 p.m. on its websites. These delays have been increasing since the beginning of the evening.

“It’s a train that suffered a breakdown fifty kilometers from Paris”, reports SNCF to France Bleu Paris. “The train has been repaired, but all the others who are supposed to take the LGV (High Speed Line) are suffering from this delay.”

The breakdown is due to a break in the catenary, observed in Saint-Arnoult, in the Yvelines, and causes delays in the service of the entire western part of the network. One of the two LGVs that connect Paris to Brittany and Bordeaux is now unusable, the TGVs between Paris and Brittany are therefore forced to take the classic line, explains the SNCF.

The entire Atlantic seaboard affected by the delays

This Friday evening at 11:45 p.m., trains to Bordeaux, Lannion, Hendaye, Tarbes, Quimper or Brest are announced with 6 hour delays. It takes up to 5h50 late for Rennes, Poitiers, and Tours, between 5h and 5h30 for Toulouse, Arcachon, Les Sables-d’Olonne and Le Croisic. The train for Saint-Malo will not go as far as its destination and will stop in Rennes.

On arrival at Paris-Montparnasse, trains from Tours are expected with delays of 2h10 to 3h30. Trains from Bordeaux are between 40 minutes and 2h10 late. As for trains from Nantes, La Rochelle, and Brittany, it takes between 1h10 and 2h20 late.
