Kevin Costner steps behind the camera again with “Horizon”, more than twenty after “Open Range”, his last production. To celebrate the event, the filmmaker attended the Cannes Film Festival where he climbed the famous steps with his family.
Kevin Costner, actor and director of “Dances with Wolves”, returns to the history of the Cannes festival, by presenting its new western film “Horizon: an American Saga”, out of competition. This three-hour feature film, which will be released in theaters on July 3, is the first part of a trilogy. It depicts the incredible epic of the expansion of the American West, before and after the Civil War. A theme that particularly touches the director who has Cherokee ancestors, an indigenous people of America. During the climb of the steps, he was accompanied by his children including Hayes Costner who plays in his film and, of course, the cast: Sienna Miller, Ella Hunt and Jena Malone.
After the Wild West, it was the time of horror with the second film by French director Coralie Fargeat “The Substance”. This film, which features popular 1990s American star Demi Moore,is part of genre cinema, increasingly popular since the Palme d’Or for Julia Ducourneau’s “Titane” in 2021.
