Medium and long term consequences. People who have had Covid-19 are twice as likely as others to develop a pulmonary embolism or respiratory problems, according to a study by American health authorities published on Tuesday May 25. Among people aged 18 to 64 infected with Sars-CoV-2, one in five suffers from symptoms that may be related to this infection. This figure rises to one in four people over the age of 65.
In total, the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) studied the appearance of 26 health concerns potentially linked to Covid-19, from a large database of medical records in the United States. The symptoms experienced by patients who had Covid-19 (more than 350,000 people) were compared to patients who did not have it, over the period from March 2020 to November 2021.
