Since 2019, Catherine Laborde has suffered from Lewy body disease which affects her memory, lucidity and motor skills. Two years after retiring, the famous weather presenter indeed evoked her sad fight against the patient and her appearances are now very rare. The latest dates back to 2020 when she agreed to engage Audrey Crespo-Mara in Seven to Eight. “I’m losing my memory all the time. I just talked to you and I don’t know what I said half an hour earlier”she confided.
In October 2022, her husband Thomas Stern made rare revelations about his wife’s state of health: “It’s not total disaster but she’s not doing well. She’s evolving rather slowly, she’s been sick for 4-5 years and usually this disease works much faster” he said live on the set of the “Don’t touch my post” show on C8.
Catherine Laborde talks about her fear of dying
The man who married the presenter only a few months before she fell ill also explained how much he became a pillar for her. One thing that Catherine Laborde recognizes in an interview with Femme Actuelle: “I realize how complicated it is for him […] it’s not a source of joy”. And the sister of Françoise Laborde to continue her declaration of love: “Thomas is an extremely strong, powerful being. He has a joviality in him that is quite rare and exceptional. That’s when I realize how lucky I am to have met this man. My strength to me is love. It is undeniable.”
Usually modest about her emotions, Catherine Laborde admits that she now feels the fear of dying: “Fear is the approach of the end, it’s a banal fear. What helps me to hold on and not to resign myself is the importance we have of still being together”.
