Siakam helps Raptors come from behind to beat Grizzlies

(Memphis) Pascal Siakam had 19 points, including two free throws with nine seconds left, and the Toronto Raptors rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 106-103 on Sunday night.


Jaren Jackson Jr. missed a three-pointer with 5.2 seconds left to tie the game for the Grizzlies, who had to do without star player Ja Morant due to right wrist pain.

The Toronto squad posted a second straight win and went 4-3 on their longest road trip of the season. The Grizzlies have suffered a third straight loss and have lost eight of their last nine outings.

Montreal’s Chris Boucher scored 17 points and matched his season high with three 3-pointers for the Raptors. Scottie Barnes finished the game with 16 points, including two key baskets down the stretch.

Desmond Bane led the Grizzlies with 26 points while Jackson added 18 points and four blocks.

In addition to Morant, the Grizzlies were without center Steven Adams with a right knee injury and winger Dillon Brooks, who was serving a one-game suspension for his altercation with Cleveland Cavaliers player Donovan Mitchell on Thursday.

The Memphis squad led 81-66 with 4:44 to go in the third quarter and held an 86-78 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Precious Achiuwa broke free near the back line to dunk with 2:32 to go, giving the Raptors a 100-99 lead. From that point, the two teams traded baskets until Barnes had two shots, the last of which with 20.1 seconds left.
