should we be worried about a new wave?

For the past week, Public Health France has recorded a 67% increase in Covid-19 cases. More than 33,000 people test positive every day. The incidence rate again crosses the bar of 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. “The back-to-school effect is in full play, the numbers have started to rise again in all age groups and in all departments. The eighth wave is beginning”says Damien Mascret, doctor and journalist at France Télévisions.

Two phenomena could explain this recovery: a certain immune decline in a population that has sometimes been contaminated or received its last vaccine many months ago. Another explanation: the back-to-school and professional context, which further promotes mixing. An increase in contaminations mainly carried by the under 20s, starting with the 0-9 year olds.
