Bad news for EDF: three nuclear reactors will have to be shut down soon. Should we be worried? On the set of 20 Hours, Tuesday February 8, the journalist Simon ricotta make the point.

EDF will soon shut down three nuclear reactors. “These are checks following corrosion problems”, explains the journalist Simon Ricottier in the 20 Hours, Tuesday, February 8. He specifies that these reactors are in addition to eight others concerned by this safety check. What impact on electricity production? “According to the latest EDF estimates, the power plants will produce between 295 and 315 TWh in 2022. That’s not much”, says the journalist. But the end of winter promises to be rather mild, “we should not resort to imports, especially since a few coal-fired power stations have been restarted”he continues.

Regarding electricity prices, “for households subject to the regulated tariff, the increase cannot exceed 4%, it is a government commitment. But for the others, less nuclear production means less cheap electricity. Suppliers therefore risk to increase their prices, but by how much? Impossible to say for the moment”concludes the journalist.
