Actor and director Louis Garrel signs with The Innocent his fourth film behind the camera. A comedy-thriller tinged with autobiography in which he plays alongside Roschdy Zem, Noémie Merlant and Anouk Grinberg. The Parisian is breaking his image as a serious and cerebral artist and has set up his cameras in Lyon to show his wacky side to the general public. To be seen in theaters from Wednesday, October 12.

Louis Garrel confides in the autobiographical side of his latest film, where he plays a young man whose mother (Anouk Grinberg) marries a former prisoner (Roschdy Zem). Worried, he asks his best friend (Noémie Merlant) to help him spy on this new stepfather.

“My mother worked for twenty years in prison to animate theater workshops explains the actor and director. She therefore frequented a rather special world. I said to myself that I was going to make a thriller with a family chronicle side, but in the form of a thriller and a comedy. Almost hiding, I slipped autobiographical elements. This allows me to have a very intimate base with the film, but with a form understandable for everyone”, confided Louis Garrel.

The actor and director, very Parisian, set up his cameras between the Rhône and the Saône for this film which has an Italian comedy side. The resemblance between Vieux-Lyon, a Renaissance district, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and certain transalpine cities did not escape the director. “The historic center made me think of Naples at times, or even Turin. There are also places in height, and all these fantastic traboules to get lost! I was more than delighted to be here”.

The Innocent will also be screened, in the presence of the film crew, this Saturday October 15 during the opening ceremony of the 14th Festival Lumières which is being held in Lyon from October 15 to 23. It is the American director Tim Burton who is honored this year.
