Olympians Steven Dubois and Maxime Laoun won the 1,000m and 1,500m events respectively on Saturday as Kim Boutin took second place in the 1,000m before being dragged into the fall of Danaé Blais over 1,500m during Canadian Short Track Speed Skating Championships at the Intact Assurance Ice Center in Quebec City.

Third in the 1,000m, Dubois was impressive in the 1,500m as he overtook from third place on the last lap to go past Pascal Dion and Laoun at the finish line. “I was well placed in the middle of the peloton and I had saved my energy. During this time, I saw Pascal and Maxime fighting for first place and expending energy”, said the winner after the race.
