Dubois, triple medalist at the last Olympic Games in Beijing, had already secured his place in the quarterfinals of the second 1000m on the program on Saturday.

In the 1500 m, Maxime Laoun and Jordan Pierre-Gilles also had to go through the repechage. Laoun was the only one to secure his place in the quarterfinals, winning the second repechage race. Pierre-Gilles was penalized for a fall involving three skaters in this race and finished last.
