Sherbrooke’s Kim Boutin grabbed the gold medal in the 500m at the World Cup in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, on Saturday morning.
After China, Japan and Hungary, the Canadian short track speed skating team are currently in the Netherlands for their last World Cup event before returning home.
Boutin, who had so far won a bronze in the 500m and a silver in the relay in Hungary last week, has made sure to collect at least one gold medal.
The Québécoise (42, 464 s.) Edged the Italian Arianna Fontana (42, 756 s.) And the Russian Elena Seregina (42, 792 s.) In the final of the 500 m. With both fists clenched, she let out a few cries of victory as she crossed the finish line.
New Brunswicker Courtney Sarault also did well on Saturday morning, claiming silver in the 1,500. It’s his third medal in that distance this season, following silver in Beijing in October and bronze in Debrecen, Hungary, last week.
In the men, Steven Dubois also won the silver, but in the 500m. This is his first individual medal.
The Canadian team will play its last races tomorrow, before returning home.
