On the top step of the podium at the end of the 500 m event at the Junior World Short Track Speed Skating Championship, it was a woman from Trois-Rivières who took her place. Florence Brunelle was able to win the event ahead of her compatriot, Ann-Sophie Bachand.

In the grand finale, Brunelle was able to complete the race in a time of 44.473 seconds. She edged her compatriot by just 0.086 seconds.
