It’s in season: Christmas markets are springing up like mushrooms all over Quebec. It is impossible to list them all here, but here are the main events, supplemented by a selection of novelties.


Montreal multiplies markets

The Christmas Market on Sainte-Catherine Street

One thing is certain, there will be no shortage of festive activities in the metropolis. The Grand Marché de Noël will take place in three locations, namely the Quartier des Spectacles, the Atwater Market and the Jean-Talon Market, from the end of November to the end of December. There will be 135 craftsmen and more than 300 free activities, including a Kingdom of Elves.

Other initiatives will also be launched, such as the Collectif Créatif Montréal market at Locoshop Angus, bringing together 80 Quebec designers over two weekends, or the Time Out Market, which will be decked out in the colors of the Holidays from June 3 to 11. December, welcoming more than 140 local brands and artisanal creations where epicureans can choose from. In any case, the choices will be vast and varied: delicacies, clothing, jewelry, decoration, cabinetmaking, cosmetics, lark.

The Longueuil Christmas and traditions market, during a previous edition

In the suburbs of Montreal, Laval will bring together some fifty exhibitors who will offer their creations and delicacies, installed in wooden houses. Family activities are planned such as a visit from Santa Claus, planting mini-trees and storytelling. New for this 11e edition: Sundays of yesteryear, December 4 and 11, from 2 p.m., where an atmosphere reminiscent of the holidays of yesteryear will be planted.

Meanwhile, further south, Longueuil will restart its Christmas and traditions market, with around a hundred artisans spread out in wooden kiosks. It had received more than 42,000 visitors last year. This year, it will host a Small Market annex in the St. Mark Community Hall.

The Laurentians in madness

We can say that the Laurentians have the heart for the holidays: no less than 26 markets will be organized in November and December in many municipalities, including Oka (from November 18 to 20, at the abbey), Blainville and Mont-Tremblant ( November 25 to 27 in both cases), Mirabel (November 25 to December 11) or Saint-Jérôme (December 10 and 11 at the Bellefeuille school; a walking trail will also be offered on December 3 and 4 at the center -town).

The Eastern Townships of the Holidays

In Sherbrooke, the Station Christmas Market returns on weekends from November 19 to December 18, with original gifts, musical entertainment and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Exhibitors are announced on the event website one week before the market is held.

Also in Estrie, the brand new Falala Christmas market will take off in Orford, bringing together local and even more distant artisans; some even moving from Kamouraska. The event is organized in collaboration with Musique Orford, and a show by Gregory Charles will be presented on November 26 (entry fee).

Quebec, with German accent

The German Christmas market is back in service this year.

In Quebec, the German Christmas market will bring together more than 90 exhibitors in their wooden kiosks, with local Quebec products, German and European specialties (pretzels, mulled wine, traditional German cakes, etc.), as well as products made by hand. handmade by artisans from here. A new site will be added this year: the Marktplatz of the Galeries de la Capitale, on the Dufferin terrace, next to the Château Frontenac. Shows and puppet theater are also on the program.
