Shooting in Anjou: a man very seriously injured by bullet

An 18-year-old man was seriously injured in a street shooting late Sunday evening in eastern Montreal.

The event occurred around 10 p.m. on Avenue Hérisson, near Highway 25, in the borough of Anjou.

Authorities say the victim was on the sidewalk when a vehicle approached. Shots were fired from the car, hitting the young man in the upper body.

When the first police arrived on the scene, they found the victim on the ground, unconscious.

The young man was rushed to hospital, where there were fears for his life at the start of the night.

As for the suspect, he fled after the crime and has still not been traced.

Investigators were expected at the scene of the crime at the start of the night, to try to understand the circumstances surrounding this new episode of armed violence to occur on Montreal soil.

A large security perimeter was erected around the scene of the attempted murder to protect potential evidence.

A dog handler was also requested on site to participate in the search for clues.
