The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) proceeded, Sunday morning, to the arrest of a former gang leader in connection with the shooting which occurred Friday at Estérel, in the Laurentians.

According to our information, the suspect is Richard Goodridge, 53, a well-known man in police circles.
Formerly close to the Hells Angels, the man had been deported to his native Guyana by the Immigration Commission in 2014 for serious criminality, but he returned to the country in 2016. In addition to his links with the Hells, he would be the he was one of the founders of the former gang 67, which raged in the Saint-Michel district of Montreal.

Richard Goodridge was released on Sunday on a promise to appear, the Sûreté du Québec announced. “Following the interrogation of this person, a file was submitted to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions, said the SQ. Analysis of the man’s version has not led to any charges being laid at this time.”
The shooting which injured three people took place in the parking lot of the Estérel Resort hotel complex. It targeted Valeriy Tarasenko, a close friend and ex-business partner of Inna Yashchyshyn, a fraudster who had infiltrated Donald Trump’s entourage.
A man with a troubled past, Valeriy Tarasenko is the president of charities allegedly used to swindle money for the benefit of organized crime. Owner of a condo in Montreal and several buildings in the Estérel, Tarasenko married the daughter-in-law of a wealthy Russian captain.
The SQ is continuing its investigation to find out what happened.
