“Shogun” Makes History With Record 18 Trophies, “My Little Reindeer” Honored

Historic evening for Shogun. The series created by the Disney-owned FC channel, which explores the power struggles in 17th-century Japan, triumphed on Sunday, September 15 at the Emmy Awards, the American television awards night, in Los Angeles. This adaptation of the novel by James Clavell collected 18 trophies, including the prestigious one for best drama series.

The HBO series Hacks a, she, created a surprise by winning the Emmy for best comedy, against the big favorite The Bear: eat in or take away.

The series, which is based on an unlikely duo between an aging American stand-up star, played by Jean Smart, and a young comedian tasked with renewing her jokes, played by Hannah Einbinder, won the award for best screenplay. Jean Smart took home the trophy for best actress.

The Bearwhich tells the story of a starred chef who takes over a family restaurant, did not leave empty-handed, with 11 trophies. Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who play two childhood friends who become a chef and a maître d’, won the best actor and best supporting actor awards respectively for the second year in a row.

It was also a great night for Netflix. In addition to the awards for The Crownthe platform has seen My Little Reindeer triumph with several major awards in the category reserved for single-season soap operas : best mini-series, best actor for Scottish comedian Richard Gadd, best screenplay and best supporting actress for actress Jessica Gunning. She is seeking $170 million in damages. Finally, in the mini-series category, Jodie Foster won the first Emmy of her career, that of best actress for her role in the fourth part, independent of the first three, of the anthology.
