shocked by her title of Miss France 2023, Indira Ampiot pays tribute to her grandmother who died of cancer

Like Véronique de la Cruz, Corinne Coman and Clémence Botino before her, Indira Ampiot became the fourth Miss Guadeloupe to be crowned Miss France, Saturday December 17.

Viewers preferred the 18-year-old beauty to Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais alias, Agathe Cauet who was one of the favorites. “At the time, I didn’t realise. I looked at Agathe and I was totally surprised. I said to her: ‘Agathe, it’s me!’ She said to me: ‘But yes! It’s you !’ I was so happy. It was a very nice surprise. This title is also a kind of revenge. Tonight, I wanted to prove that even at 18, you can accomplish great things and believe in your dreams.”, she reacted at a press conference. A victory which has a particular meaning for the one who succeeds Diane Leyre. “I dedicate my title to my family. And in particular to my grandmother. She was an example for me. She participated in my education. Unfortunately, she left us this year. I know she would have been very proud. I am happy to dedicate my crown to him”.

Present in the audience of the Mach 36 room in Deols near Châteauroux, the mother of the new Miss France was overcome by emotion. “It’s a wonderful moment that we are living”, testified Béatrice Ampiot, elected first runner-up of Miss Guadeloupe in 1998, with theAFP. “Thank you to the French people in Metropolitan France who voted for her, thank you to those overseas who supported her tirelessly!” Her husband Didier also spoke: “I don’t have the words strong enough to express my pride (…) she has worked a lot to get there, she deserves this trophy”he said before launching to his wife. “We made a miss, darling!”.
