The news of 19/20 continues its discovery of the island of Ouessant, in Finistère. Tuesday, August 2, he is interested in the many wrecks that are around the island. These are visited by divers.
On the island of Ouessant (Finistère), hundreds of boats have run aground. A diving club prepares for the exploration of the wreck of an English freighter, sunk in 1885. “He was going to arrive in Rotterdam the next day and in the mist, he passed a little too close”says Paul Marec, diving director “Ouessant Subaqua”. “It’s an incredible atmosphere, when you go down on it, it seizes”testifies a diver.
Divers head to a point, where many shipwrecks rest on the bottom of the water. The divers discover the steamer, lying at the bottom of the water, broken into three pieces. The remains of the propeller, steel beams and boilers are colonized by flora and various fish. “It’s impressive, even if it is very broken”, says a woman. Laurent Moysan, a diver from the Scyllias association, discovered an unexplored wreck at a depth of 110 m two years ago. “I found a submarine in good condition”he says.
