After a stint on the show “It starts today” at the start of the week, Thomas Stern was this Thursday, October 6, 2022, on the set of “Touche pas à mon poste” to talk about his wife, Catherine Laborde. For several years, the former weather presenter has been battling Lewy body disease which affects her memory, lucidity and motor skills.
From the outset, the man made revelations about the state of health of his wife: “It’s not total disaster but she’s not well. She’s progressing rather slowly, she’s been sick for 4-5 years and usually this disease works much faster” he advanced. “She has language and expression disorders. Motor skills too, but she is not disabled either,” he confided.
The man also revealed how he detected his wife’s disorder: “I discovered that she was shaking slightly in her right hand one day like that in the kitchen. So we went to see and there was a diagnosis of Parkinson’s which was made. The treatment completely messed it up , she was delirious, she no longer knew where she was. Faced with this, a doctor said it’s not Parkinson’s, it’s a Lewy body…”.
Thomas Stern then explained what their daily life looks like with this daily fight against the disease: “We try to live normally. She goes out even if it bothers us to see her like that because she is still very recognized in the street… It is not easy to manage outside, the public space but good even when she goes out, she walks 2-3 kilometers a day with a young girl who takes care of her”. he confided.
