Sherbrooke: the land of the former Hells Angels bunker sold for more than $700,000

The land on which the former Hells Angels bunker was located in the Lennoxville area of Sherbrooke was sold for a total of $710,000, the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) confirmed on Tuesday.

Already revealed by TVA Nouvelles last Thursday, the amount of the land sale had not yet been officially confirmed by the authorities.

The amount raised with the sale of the land “will be shared between various beneficiaries, including the Fund for assistance to victims of criminal acts, community organizations that work in crime prevention and the police forces that participated in the operations that led to the confiscation,” said the DPCP in a press release.

The land, which was appraised at $538,000 more than a year ago, was listed at $775,000. It was therefore sold at a lower price than expected by the DPCP.

According to The gallery, businessman and ex-conservative candidate in 2019 Dany Sévigny is one of the new owners of the premises. The man indicated, in a press release obtained by the daily, that he wanted to carry out a “sustainable development” project on the spot, without really knowing what form it will take for the moment.

Note that the buyer will be limited for the use he will make of his new property, the land being zoned “conservation of the natural environment”, so that it is not possible to build there much more than a nature observation area.

The City of Sherbrooke had indicated to TVA Nouvelles last week that it did not intend to allow a zoning change for the moment.

It should be remembered that after more than a decade of steps, the government had obtained, in 2020, that the land be considered as offence-related property and that it could therefore be seized. In the aftermath, the Hells bunker that was there was demolished last year.
