Sherbrooke | Second death confirmed and arrest for drug trafficking

(Sherbrooke) The Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS) confirms the death of the second individual found unconscious in a residence in the Rock Forest sector, Thursday afternoon.

The 51-year-old man was discovered with another man, aged 54, who was also found unconscious when first responders arrived. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The investigation began around 1 p.m. Thursday, when a resident of Chemin Saint-Roch Nord called 911 to report that two men were unconscious in his residence. They were both taken to hospital, where the 51-year-old man was fighting for his life until Friday morning. His death was announced by the SPS in the afternoon.

The various teams of the police force carried out an analysis of the scene. They seized narcotics, in addition to arresting a 55-year-old man for drug trafficking. The latter was still detained Friday morning and was to be met by investigators.

On Friday, the SPS confirmed that there were no traces of violence on the victims’ bodies and that they were not known to the police.

“All hypotheses are still being analyzed by the criminal investigations division,” states a press release from the Sherbrooke Police Department. It also emphasizes that the Sûreté du Québec is assisting the SPS in the case.
