Samuel Ducharme, 40, was the subject of an arrest warrant and is currently being met by BEI investigators. He faces one count of sexual assault.

He will be released, but must be present at the Sherbrooke courthouse on December 3.

“Out of respect for the judicial process, the BEI will not issue any other comments,” the statement said.

By virtue of the Police Act, the BEI takes charge of the investigation of any allegation relating to a sexual offense committed by a police officer on duty.

The public can also transmit information confidentially through its website.
